New Art Up From Sheena Ben-David

Our Bathurst location has new art up from Sheena Ben-David. We welcome you to come by on Thursday February 2nd between 4-7 to chat with the artist, take a look at her work, and hopefully go home with a beautiful piece of art (all works are for sale)! Here’s a bit about Sheena’s history and creative interests:

“Originally from Montreal, I studied both Design and Fine Arts at Dawson College before moving to Toronto to study makeup artistry. Today I work at Trove as well as doing freelance makeup, hair, and illustration.

Whether it is a commissioned piece, creating a face chart for a particular shoot or just working on a personal creation, my inspirations come from anything and everywhere.

I have explored many different media and am satisfied most with my works when i use a variety of techniques and materials to express myself. However, at the end of the day I’m a sucker for just a ball pen and paper, or losing myself to the world of collaging. Both spark a great sense of nostalgia.”

Bright Colours: A Trend That’s Here to Stay

One of our favourite looks from London designer Paul Smith.

One trend that we saw and *loved* over fall/winter was the playful use of bright colours. Well, we’re happy to say that this trend is here to stay! Many designers used palettes of cobalt blue, turquoise, orangey reds, and tons of yellow for their Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Stay tuned to see some of the colourful pieces filling up our store for spring!
